C64 turbo

Post by Iknownothingatall »

Hi,

I have a basic question, how many turbo types are there for the C64? And if there is more than 1, are they compatible with each other?

Regards,
i know that i know nothing at all.

Basically there were only two. The first, the oldest, consisted in using the standard speed when resigning from repeating data blocks, it gave about 2 times the acceleration, and the second one, consisting in shortening the length of the 0 and 1 bit writing plus no repetitions.
The problem in this case was that these lengths could be somehow arbitrary, hence many variants incompatible with each other.
I'm from Poland in Euro.
