Core A1200 and some problems with software

Hi,

I have a problem with running a few games, programs on my freshly acquired A1200:
[*] Workbench 3.1 Cloanto - read error on bootable, but it somehow starts after Cancel
[*] Lotus 3 - Software Failure / Error 8000 0004 (copy)
[*] SWOS - black screen while loading the second floppy disk (it was supposed to be the original, I got a pirate)

Each of the above from different sources, and the same problem, does not work.

On the other hand, Workbench from another source or the original game that I got with the Amiga come in without a problem.

All problems disappear after putting the Gale 1211 extension into the Amiga.
Same behavior of these floppy disks on another Amiga.

Does this mean that the items listed do not work on the basic configuration and need to be expanded?
Will I be able to check it somehow before buying it?
Times have changed and maybe the extension is now standard and basic configuration :)

Games are old titles so I'm surprised. On the other hand, they are not really the originals.

The same behavior on another A1200 suggests, however, that this is not a problem with my A1200 or the other one.

Thank you for your help.

After the autopsy, I remember that Lotus3 never troubled my friend from A1200, even when he turned on kickstart 1.3. For Lotus 3 I think you need WHDload on your amiga and an additional frame ... Or Amiga CD32 and the version there.
Sensible Soccer or SWOS on A1200 ran very well, I can't cut my hand off, but something more could be happening on the screen (clock or badge still displayed).

Nowadays, using the bare A1200 is terribly rough.
In fact, not to worry, it is a minimum of 8MB fast under the flap and some CF or SD card in the adapter to the IDE connector.

I understand, and that's my plan. Extension already ordered.
I'm just trying to make sure my Amiga is ok.

Read error is just a disk error. As for Lotus and SWOS, there can be many reasons, including reading errors. As kiledzy wrote -fast ram, cf card and you go with whdload, possibly substitution of the station with goteka.

8 MB fast to Lotus? You're crazy. For me, Lotus 2 and 3 worked without any problems on a bare A1200 and turbo 030, from floppy disks or from an installation on a tough guy, without any kikstarts. You just have a kicked version with some lame crash or intro that some amateur wrote on A500 + 512 words. This is how someone buys 500kowiec instead of someone who had a newer Ama. I bet it's not hard to find a good version on the net. :)

Anyway, it seems that a good version was on some ACS. Because I never had a diskette 1 or pirate CD, and I had the hard disk version of the 123 together.

Apparently yes, but I do not have a read error after inserting the extension and the error occurs on different floppies, we translated two other working FDD stations and the same effect on both boards.
The power supplies were also checked differently.

I also remember playing SWOS on A600 without the extension and problems with a friend.

At the moment I need to fix a hardware problem and I hope quietly that these SWOS and Lotus 3 copies are simply botched.

Workbench 3.x by Cloanto is original and here I don't know what the problem may be, I don't see requirements above 2 MB.

Everything was checked on the original 3.0 kicks and the 3.x Cloanto.

Maybe some memory tester run or try to fill RAM disk under WB ...

My point is that nowadays it is a pity to hang around with floppy disks on your naked.
8MB, CF / SD card and Whdload is the minimum for this time. Fast, easy and fun.
I wouldn't even torture myself with a goth.

As for the rest, you are right, versions copied on floppy disks.
