CPC6128 disk drive problem

Post by Wariorr »

I would like to ask if there would be a soul mate with a passion for electronics repair? The station on my 6128 has stopped working. Symptoms are the floppy disk reading LED continuously lit and the system information - Drive A: disk missing :(
Of course, I cover all costs related to the operation, adding a measurable dose of gratitude for starting the equipment
I'm a great warrior of old lore.

These drives have a problem with the floppy drive belts.
If it has not been replaced, it must be replaced.
You can by yourself because it's easy. Just be careful with the metal pin from the read / write protection.
He likes to fall out.
The belt is available on auction portals. The description of the exchange was somewhere on this forum.
The dimensions of the belt were also given.

The station is the same as the ZX Spectrum +3.
Nobody here but me :?: :!:

Hmmm, the belt was replaced a year ago (or so the previous owner says), since then the equipment has not been used at all (bought on ebay).

As the year has become unused, it is possible that the belt has hardened and is slipping.
It all depends on what rubber it was made of.

The LED is on all the time? Is it only when trying to read from a floppy disk?

As it is lit all the time, after turning on the computer, it may actually be a problem with the 12V, or the tape is plugged into the drive.

Also, when you try to list a floppy directory, you should hear the floppy spin.

If you hear a floppy disk spinning noise, the drive light is on and then nothing - possibly a loose belt.

If you do not hear, the LED is on, it may be that there is no 12V or a ribbon is plugged in the other way.

When the bar ceased to exist, you won't hear anything. At most a tick of a stepper motor. The LED will light up, but it should go out when the error is displayed.
i know that i know nothing at all.

The truth is that if you do not look, you will not find out.
Anyway, you have to unscrew.
Nothing here for now...

I recently hit the cool Noel's Retro Labs channel, this guy fixes Comodorki Spectrumy and Amstradas.

Here are examples of how to set the head in the Amstrad station:

Contrary to what I thought, not the head but the stepper motor.

And here is breaking the record for the fastest data loading through the tape recorder port: :)

As if what it is you can turn on the translation of subtitles into Polish.

By the way, he speaks beautiful English and often uses Spanish versions of computers, where is he from?
I'm gonna direct a movie someday...
