The 1990s brought a major evolution with 16-bit consoles. The Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis/Mega Drive introduced richer games, better graphics, more advanced music, and larger worlds. Titles like Super Mario World, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, and Sonic the Hedgehog are still considered masterpieces and continue to inspire modern game developers.
